A Study on the Dental Hygiene Legislation in Korea and Japan
Yun Jung-Won

Kim Jung-Sool
Abstract
Objectives: This study was designed to present measures of improving the nation¡¯s dental hygiene law system by comparing the dental hygiene laws of Korea and Japan.

Method: The analysis results of previous studies by the National Statistical Office (Korea) and various agencies were utilized for a comparative consideration of the dental hygienist law systems in Korea and Japan.

Results: The dental hygienist authorities in Korea and Japan serve as dentists¡¯ ¡°under the guidance¡±, but in Japan, a dental hygienist can perform any preventive work requested from the dentist if the latter is not present on site.
The common ground between Korean and Japanese statutes involves the law (law), enforcement ordinances, and enforcement rules. The difference is that Korea¡¯s law on medical technicians and others makes up eight jobs, including medical technology, medical recording, and optical science. However, Japan¡¯s dental hygienist laws alone protect its business authority.

Conclusions: The nation¡¯s dental hygienist legal system will need to be revised through the opening of the Dental Hygiene Act to receive institutional protection.
